MAKEOVERS!: Before and After

We decided to give some of our friends makeovers. We asked them what their styles were and transformed their looks into something that could get that best first impression... because we all know that you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Ondre: I asked my friend, TJ,  to describe his style to me and he said "anything on sale". He then told me that he would like to look mature and well put together. He's a business major, so I decided to give him that young and chic business man look. I kept his look clean and simple, adding a bright red to stand out. For his second outfit, I chose a blue denim shirt and paired it with some white pants and added white shoes. Check out his looks below:

Outfit #2

Kevin: I asked two of my friends, Stephanie and Joe, to describe their styles to me. Stephanie is newly wed and doesn't want to give off that 'housewife' appearance. She wanted something that wasn't too revealing, young, and sexy. Stephanie has a bold and edgy haircut, so I wanted to make sure that her outfit had the perfect femininity to it.

Joe describes his style as comfortable and very urban. For his makeover, I wanted to keep him in his comfort zone, but at the same time, turn his swag up by giving him a cleaner and sophisticated look. For the first look, I put him a plaid shirt and white jeans. I finished his look off with matching shoes, a gray cardigan and a black bow tie. For the second look, he wore a peach shirt and khaki pants. I added white shoes to the outfit and threw on a vest. I jazzed the outfit up by adding a bow tie.

How to Step Your Spring Swag Up!

Before you decide to put those cardigans away and save them for next winter, we just wanted to let you know that you can easily transition your winter looks for the spring time. We put some looks together using our winter clothes to show you that you can create an outfit without buying a whole new wardrobe.

Kevin: I wore a green plaid shirt with a striped bow tie, then I took some white jeans that I've been wearing during the winter time and decided to cut them into shorts. I finished the look off with a pair of navy and white canvas shoes.

Ondre: I chose to wear a gray polo and a striped navy tie. I wore some light khaki shorts and rolled them up at the hem to give my short legs some length. I topped my look off by wearing one of my favorite navy cardigan. I threw on a pair of all white Converse and added bracelets to accessorize my look.

We Be Blazin'

...and not the blazin you're thinking of. We chose to cover blazers because they seem to go with practically anything. This versatile jacket (referred to as a sport coat when worn casually) can make any outfit look like you're ready to plead your defendant's case. The blazer seems to give off that 'power' statement most clothes can't do. This jacket (or a variation of it) has also been worn by men since the early 17th century. The moment you put a blazer over your T-shirt and jeans, you automatically turn your swag up a few notches. We also included some looks for the ladies.

Colors and Patterns: Rules Your Parents Don't Want You To Break

Ever heard the rules don't wear white after labor day? Or how about don't wear stripes with plaid? Well, SCRATCH THAT! These rules may have applied in the 90s, but it's 2011 and we won't follow your parent's rules on how to wear clothes. This new anti-rule applies to guys and girls alike.When you mix and match patterns, your won't be giving off a 'tacky' look, if you know how to match them correctly.

Adding a little color to an outfit can be the difference of you fading into the background and standing front and center of the crowd. Too much color is something that a lot of people will stray away from, but if you use them in the right ways, you can look like you just walked out of a magazine...and not like walking Christmas tree!

Reverse the Roles

So, me and Kevin tried something different today. We decided instead of dressing ourselves, that we would dress each other. So my approach to dressing Kevin was to put a vest on him and throw him in some khaki pants. I rolled the legs up and put him in some boat shoes. I topped the look off with a pair of shades to give him that too cool for school look.

...and I decided to put Ondré in a bow tie, because his outfit was in need of a WOW moment. While, at the same time, keeping him in a vest. I also decided to put him in some boots and paired them with some khaki shorts to compliment his swag. I wanted his overall look to be nerd/prep.
